National Apprenticeship Week is a week-long celebration of the benefits of apprentices that takes place between the 7th and 13th of February in 2022.
But this isn’t a new idea. National Apprenticeship Week has been around since 2007, which means that the project is now in its 15th year and counting.
The idea of having a National Apprenticeship week is to bring both apprentices and businesses together on a country-wide scale to highlight the benefits that apprenticeships bring to the UK economy, local communities, businesses, and to individuals themselves.
The theme of National Apprenticeship Week 2022 is ‘BUILD FOR THE FUTURE.’ This theme is designed to focus on how apprenticeships can vastly help people to develop the necessary knowledge and skills that they need in order to succeed in their chosen careers. This also trickles down to the business that is hiring the apprentice; in return, they get a workforce that is developed in their own mould and can go on to thrive for the business.
Over 1,200 National Apprenticeship Week events will be held, both virtually and in-person, from the 7th to the 13th of February, covering topics as varied as the different sectors that offer apprenticeships, to advice for businesses on the logistics of taking on an apprentice, to how you as a business and your apprentice strikes the balance between classroom work and ‘on the job’ learning.
These events are being held nationally, but there are also a plethora of smaller regional workshops taking place, including:
You can help to raise the profile of the National Apprenticeship Week by using the hashtag #NAW22 on social media and by following them on their Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn profiles to stay up to date with news, advice, and details of how you can attend or help events happening in your area.
It’s always nice to add a new member to the team, but to coincide with #NAW22 and to show how much we believe that apprenticeships can benefit businesses enormously, we will be introducing Mercury Hampton’s second apprentice in the coming days. So, keep your eyes peeled on our social media pages for more information about that very soon!
