Well, here we are again. You might be reading this from home – or not. You may have returned to work – or not. Perhaps you used public transport – or not. Perhaps you’re trying to eat a sandwich through a face mask or have taken to wearing a pan lid in your hoodie to protect yourself from rogue sneezes?
However we find you, we hope that you’re staying alert and are ready to be distracted from everyday life for ten minutes or so. In all honesty, not much has changed since last month. The Last Dance is the new Tiger King and KFC is the new toilet roll, but that’s about it. Here we go!
IT’S A GIRL!
We’d like to start with some extremely good news. Our MD, Chris, and his wife have welcomed a baby girl into their family. She was born on May the 14th and mother and baby are doing well. Congratulations, guys!
ZOOM FACE
Who else has been struggling with this? Zoom fatigue is a proven phenomenon, so when you see the photos that your colleagues have inevitably taken of the team meeting and shared on social media, don’t be too disheartened that you look like your brain leaked out of your ear hours ago and socially distanced itself from you for the rest of the day.
If you are struggling with keeping up appearances on Zoom calls, click the link below for the top five ways to beat Zoom fatigue.

IS RECRUITMENT EVEN STILL A THING?
It’s true that the recruitment sector has been hit hard of late, with lots of people losing their jobs (some unnecessarily – see our thoughts on this here). But while some sectors have fallen off a cliff like retail and hospitality, others like medtech, supply chain and FMCG are thriving like never before. If you fancy a change of scenery, need a new recruit or are actively looking for new employment then head over to the Vacancies section of our website. If you’ve got any questions then just drop us a line at info@mercuryhampton.com.
NHS AMAZON WISHLISTS
We ran this spot last month but it’s still as valid as ever, so it’s getting another airing. Did you know that a growing number of NHS Trusts have set up public Amazon Wishlists in order to get basic supplies? This is everything from blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, and nightwear for the patients, down to basics essentials for the staff such as tea, coffee, sanitary products, razors and body wash? Even if your Trust doesn’t have an Amazon Wishlist, chances are high that they DO have a Just Giving or charitable donations page. We’ve included the link to our local Trust below to give you an idea of what people are doing. So please, share the hell out of this with everyone you know to get awareness out there and give our NHS heroes the help that they deserve.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
We like to keep these newsletters light-hearted, but we know that this whole situation has been very trying for some more than others. Anxiety, depression, money troubles, premature deaths, and loss of contact with loved ones can be hard on even the strongest of resolves. If you feel like it’s all getting too much, then please reach out and talk to someone. Click the link below to be taken to the homepage of the Samaritans, just one of the incredible organisations you can contact if you need to let off some steam and find some purpose.

That’s it for now. Chances are we’ll still be in our pyjamas in June, but we’ll see you all again next month for TV recommendations, fashion updates, and how to wade through the recruitment minefield.
See y’all soon,
The Mercury Hampton Team.
