With a well-established brand, multiple UK locations and ambitious growth plans this role presents the opportunity to spearhead a new era of growth and diversification. Offering a highly bespoke design and manufacturing service, this role will challenge you to take a highly profitable division from its embryonic stages through to a flourishing revenue generator over a 3-year journey within a setting that will provide daily opportunities to enhance your commercial awareness.
The responsibility of the Divisional Manager is to take control of an emerging part of the broader business. You will have day-to-day line management responsibility for a team of 7 people: 4 engineers, 1 technical drawing graduate and 2 sales and marketing executives. With overall profit and loss responsibility, you will guide this team to become more time-efficient and lean (being hands-on and rolling your sleeves up to get on the tools where necessary) whilst implementing strong business development and marketing strategy to take this part of the business from 1 million to 5 million over a 3-year period. Whilst your remit will be national in terms of potential clientele, this position is will be based in their UK HQ in Merseyside.
We are looking to speak with candidates who have attained an operational and technical skillset over the years with an understanding of how to deal with suppliers, engage within a professional and articulate manner with customers, have a keen eye for profitability and can improve and implement processes. You will have a solid technical backing to help from time to time, and as such have a background in mechanical engineering with the ability to decipher CAD drawings. Perhaps you are or have been a Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager or Operations Manager within a mechanical engineering background. Any link to steel fabrication and an understanding of building regulations is highly desirable. The following requirements are essential:
