Business of the Year 2025: The Perfect End to a Defining Year for Mercury Hampton

We are honoured to announce that Mercury Hampton was named Business of the Year at the PSD St Helens Business Awards 2025. The award recognises outstanding performance, growth and impact, considering workforce development, financial gains, community impact, innovation and creativity, and more. It’s the perfect way to top off a year defined by extraordinary effort, unity and tenacity from everyone in the company.

The past twelve months have demanded serious focus. Navigating global economic pressures required strategic discipline, and internally, we embraced substantial change to refine our operations and future-proof the business. Despite this environment of complexity and change, the team pulled together, remained grounded and delivered a record-breaking year for turnover. This achievement belongs to every single employee.

Insights from the Founders

For Co-founder Jon Sallis, the award affirms the quality of the team’s effort. “To be named Business of the Year, especially having navigated a turbulent economic period and managed internal shifts, is genuinely validating,” he reflects. “It’s not simply about setting new financial benchmarks, which we did. It’s about how our people responded to adversity. They stayed composed, worked diligently and upheld our standards for every client.”

Co-founder Chris Hickey was quick to share the recognition, emphasising the significance of regional recognition for a local business. “This award is a shared victory, and being recognised on a regional stage is particularly meaningful for us as a business HQ’d right here in Newton-le-Willows,” Chris states. “It’s a clear acknowledgment of the deep commitment shown by every member of the team. We aimed high, and the team met those ambitions through consistent effort, all while maintaining a humble focus on what matters most: serving our clients well. We achieved a record year because we have an outstanding team working in sync and representing our local area with pride.”

Focus, Resilience and Unity

Mercury Hampton’s success is founded on hard work and collaboration. In a year where external factors could have been distracting, the team focused on execution, supporting one another and sticking to our core principles. When faced with change, the response was constructive and determined.

This award is not a culmination; it’s a checkpoint. It proves that a cohesive team, focused on disciplined effort and mutual support, can successfully overcome tough conditions and achieve extraordinary results.

Thank you to the St Helens Business Awards, to all the sponsors, and most importantly, to the entire Mercury Hampton team. Your hard work and unity secured this success.
